  • Last presentation on the BestBrood proyect. Our Coordinator, Dr. Jorge Galindo-Villegas spoke on October 5, 2023 to a wide audience at the ForoAcui in Galicia, Spain. The forum is a major gathering for global industrial representatives.

  • BESTBROOD was present at the latest edition of the prestigious event EAS 2023. The European Aquaculture society hosted their annual meeting in Wien, Austria from September 18-22, 2023. Partners from Greece, Italy, Spain, and Norway lecture on the findings achieved by the project.

  • Greater Amberjack workshop conducted online for the Greek aquaculture industry on July 26, 2023.

  • A workshop on spotted_wolffish and lumpfish immune reproduction advancements and practical aspects was conducted on June 13-14, 2023, at Akva Plan-Niva in Tromsø. Participants from the Northern universities in Norway were invited and trained by the BESTBROOD partners Nord University and Akva Plan-Niva headquarters.

  • Senegalese sole workshop conducted at IFAPA Centro El Toruño on May 25-26, 2023.

  • The BESTBROOD crew is heading south. We will be at the “12th International Symposium on Reproductive Physiology of Fish”. Some of the results achieved so far will be presented among the excellent oral and poster sessions programmed. Moreover, Dr. Constatino C. Mylonas (Dinos), director of the HCMR, will be the event’s Chair. Thus, disseminating the BESTBROOD project objectives and achievements will be addressed using variated approaches.

  • Representative members of the BESTBROOD crew were present at the Radisson Red, London, UK, or attended online between April 27-28, 2023, the last live meeting of the consortia. We discussed the latest advancements while identifying the missing tasks and associated deliverables to end the project on time. We are proud that significant species-specific advances have been achieved. Stay tuned to discover the knowledge developed by the seven partners in the project for the four emerging fish species under research.

  • On 2nd October, Nord University celebrated Open-doors Day (FBA, Åpen Bukt). The project leader, Dr. Jorge Galind-Villegas, informed the public about the wolffish biology and the aims followed by the BESTBROOD Project. To show synergies between projects, the EPIFISH project also joins the effort. The local community was amazed at the live fish and the achievements explained. They enjoyed the “Recycled-PaperFish” activity, where the BESTBROOD and EPIFISH staff taught children the importance of a clean environment following recycling.
