The Norwegian Teacher Education and Primary School Systems: National Perspectives developing Global Thinking and Big Ideas

This lecture will be an introduction to the Norwegian teacher education and primary school systems from their early figurations to the present day; we will follow the development of Norway and its educational practices across its rural roots through to its industrial and technological centres. In particular, this talk will address how the competency aims for both teachers and students have evolved in Norway – shifting from productive and reproductive knowledge skills towards life-long learning and innovation.
